- At least a master's degree in speech language pathology from an ASHA accredited program; Must be a current member of ASHA & certified by the association (attainment of CCC certification).
- Active Speech Language Pathology license for State of Florida through board of SLPA; License is without previous disciplinary actions or discrepancies.
- Current BLS Provider (BLS) CPR certification completed through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross (no online programs).
- Evaluates patient’s speech and language abilities, both defects and assets, and performs periodic reevaluations.
- Plans and provides rehabilitative services for speech and language disorders.
- Records type of treatment and patient’s reaction to it on clinical/progress notes, which are maintained in the electronic medical record system.
- Maintains adequate records on all patients, including summary reports.
- Utilizes community resources and Agency personnel by proper referral.
- Selects and administers diagnostic and therapeutic techniques and materials.
- Instructs and counsels other health team personnel and family members in methods of assisting patient in improving, correcting, and accepting his disabilities.
- Attends case conferences via phone or other methods as required.
- Participates in the development and periodic revision of the physician’s plan of treatment.
- Communicates effectively with the interdisciplinary team regarding provision of care.
- Complies with federal, state, local legal and certification requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation; Adheres to accreditation standards as set forth by the Accreditation Commission for Healthcare (ACHC).
